Aides said Thursday that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie plans to lead a delegation of officials to Mexico next month. But the Republican’s trip has nothing to do with the border crisis on the southern border. The purpose, an aide said, is to “promote increased trade, economic growth, job creation and higher education in both New Jersey and Mexico through enhanced relations.” Along with Christie, the delegation will include “representatives from New Jersey’s business, pharmaceutical and higher education communities, as well as energy.” Christie, a potential Republican candidate for president in 2016, has made one other official foreign trip while governor: He traveled to Israel in 2012.??
